ANIMATION EPIDEMIC
MAŁE INSTRUMENTY /Small Instruments /live music & sound/ & DZIECIĘCA WYTWÓRNIA FILMOWA / Children's Film Factory /animated films/
MAK Museum, Vienna

"Animation Epidemic" is a audio/visual project involved experimental sound/music artists and young animated film makers. This cooperation gives really fresh and far-out experience for both sides and exciting impressions for open-mind audience.

Małe Instrumenty (Small Instruments) are a band exploring new sounds using a wide array of small instruments. The instruments used in their sonic experiments feature an ever expanding array of professional instruments, sound toys made for children or naive in nature, strange musical inventions as well as a whole array of small items that aren't really instruments but do make a sound. The music created in this way reveals unique colours of sound - sometimes beautiful and fine, sometimes surprising and
insightful, sometimes exposing the incomplete nature of the sound created and allowing ears to feast on this restriction. All this means that the band is constantly faced with the need to look for new creative solutions.
The group was started by Pawel Romanczuk in 2006 who was joined by Marcin Ozog, Maciej Markowski, Tomasz Orszulak, Jedrzej Kuziela and Maciej Baczyk. In July 2007 the band made its debut at Era New Horizons Film Festival in Wroclaw/Poland and has since worked on many music projects under the name of Male Instrumenty. The group has collaborated with many prominent art organizations and artists in Poland and Europe.
Band members: Paweł Romańczuk; Maciej Markowski; Maciej Baczyk; Marcin Ożóg; Jędrzej Kuziela; Tomasz Orszulak.

Dziecięca Wytwórnia Filmowa /DWF/ (Children's Film Factory) is the name of the animated film workshop for children and youth that has operated by Entropia Gallery since 1988. The workshop run by Alicja Jodko together with Mariusz Jodko teaches and inspires children how to make animated films as a part of the classical stop motion technique. Artists from different fields and media are invited to participate in the workshop to present the techniques in which they create images, sculptures, spatial arrangements, photography, graphics, music ... Getting to know the background of different fields helps children apply various animation techniques when making their own films. Children's Film Factory creates opportunities for children to perform as authors and change their attitudes from consumerists to active ones.
Children's Film Factory productions have been honoured with a number of prizes at national (including OFAFA in Crakow, OFF Cinema in Poznan, ReAnimacjia in Lodz) and international (including Kids For Kids in Nicosia and Naples, JugendMedien Festival in Berlin, VIP ListenUp in New York) festivals.
