Serdecznie zapraszamy na pokaz filmów animowanych jednego z najwybitniejszych współczesnych artystów - wizjonera animacji i sceny teatralnej - Williama Kentridge'a.

William Kentridge (*1955) - artysta działający na pograniczu wielu dziedzin i gatunków sztuki - twórca filmów animowanych, grafik, rysunków, mobilnych rzeźb, instalacji, scenografii, spektakli teatralnych i operowych. Przy tym twórca całkowicie osobny w niepowtarzalnym stylu budujący wizje sceniczne i filmowe, w których zawiera bolesne treści życia społecznego jak i filozoficzne refleksje dotyczące kondycji podmiotu i dróg poznania świata.
Jako jeden z nielicznych nadal realizuje swoje filmy na taśmie 35 mm, posługując się techniką animacji poklatkowej. Nazywa je "filmami z epoki kamiennej", choć w tej starej technice stara się dotykać zjawisk jak najbardziej współczesnych.
Swoją światową sławę zawdzięcza przede wszystkim wystawom w prestiżowych muzeach i galeriach, jak m.in. MoMA w Nowym Jorku, Albertina w Wiedniu, Luwr w Paryżu. Ostatnie lata poświęca też pracy nad spektaklami operowymi.
Urodził się i mieszka w Johannesburgu (RPA). Jest potomkiem litewsko-polskich Żydów, synem prawników walczących z apartheidem.

You are most welcome to attend a screening of animated films by one of the most outstanding contemporary artists – a visionary of animation and theatre stage – William Kentridge.

William Kentridge (*1955) – is an artist whose work incorporates multiple fields and genres of art. He has created animated films, graphics, drawings, moving sculptures, installations, stage designs, theatre and opera performances. At the same time, Kentridge is absolutely separate in his unique style. When constructing his stage and film visions, he includes in them both painful contents of social life and philosophical reflection on condition of the subject and ways to learn the world.
He is one of the few figures to continue to produce his films on a 35 mm tape, using the stop- motion technique. He calls them the “stone-age animation”, though in this old technique he attempts to touch upon absolutely topical phenomena.
His world fame can be credited primarily to exhibitions in prestigious museums and galleries, such as MoMA in Ney York, Albertina in Vienna or The Louvre in Paris. Over the last few years, has has also worked on opera shows.
William Kentridge was born and has lived in Johannesburg (South Africa). He is a descendant of Polish-Lithuanian Jews and a son of attorneys who struggled with the apartheid.
